It’s National Numeracy Day today (May 22nd) and we’re proud to be a Lead Supporter for the seventh year running, helping the nation to build confidence with numbers.

It’s not all about the maths you learn at school, we’re talking about everyday maths, and having the confidence to budget, understanding financial terminology such as interest rates or spotting the best deal on the market.

This year there are so many activities already underway across Vanquis Banking Group. Colleagues have been partnering with schools to deliver numeracy assemblies and classroom activities to support children to build their number confidence.

“I’m really looking forward to being back in a school and sharing my maths story. I always enjoyed maths, so I’m hoping to share some of this love with the children this week.” VBG colleague

  • Moneybarn has a longstanding relationship with the Professional Darts Corporation, and both have linked up with National Numeracy today to share some Dart-related maths videos and deliver a ‘Bullseye’ Maths Challenge in honour of the day, at the O2.
  •  Our Vanquis team has teamed up with Bobby Seagull, National Numeracy Day ambassador, to create some videos to help explain financial jargon: Money basics | Vanquis.
  • CEO, Ian McLaughlin took part in his own Number Natter with National Numeracy’s CEO Sam Sims.

Plus, we’re sharing #BigNumberNatters from our colleagues around the group.

Being good with numbers isn’t a special talent, it’s something we can all get better at. That’s why National Numeracy share and promote the National Numeracy Challenge.

It’s a free online tool designed to help people understand their current numeracy level and receive free and tailored support for any areas they need to improve. Anyone can take part at any time.

We’re proud to sponsor National Numeracy Day and National Numeracy’s cause all year round.
